Over 150 ex-LTTErs enter universities

More than 150 rehabilitated LTTE cadres had entered Sri Lankan universities, said Brigadier Sudantha Ranasinghe, the Commissioner General of Rehabilitation, yesterday.

He said that 50 of them had received scholarships from private donors, and received Rs. 2,500 every month through their bank accounts. “We will give some more scholarships to other rehabilitated LTTErs who have entered universities as well,” he said.

“One former LTTEr, who is to enter to one of the leading universities in Sri Lanka, is one of a group of ex-LTTErs who were reunited with their families yesterday,” he said.

“We are encouraging former LTTErs to engage in further studies,” said Brigadier Ranasinghe.
