Army throws in the Gauntlet for the Former Cadres

Why is the Sri Lankan Army throwing in the gauntlet for the former cadres? A suspicion has been aroused in this regard.

The intelligence unit of the Sri Lankan army had rounded up the former cadres saying that they wanted to question them. Now the army is saying that they are going to give the former cadres some assignments.

The former cadres were told to co-operate with the army on the basis of working with them, and the former cadres were told that could thereby avail themselves of several benefits. The former cadres were called up to Vanni and were told the above offer.

However it has transpired that most of the former cadres had rejected the offer by the army. The army is said to keep this activity as a secret and in case the former cadres rejecting the offer they may have to undergo constant inquiry sessions, it has been told.

Former cadres were called up to the army camp in Visvamadu in Kilinochchi recently and they were asked to work with the army. The army told the former cadres that they could work with the army as they will be brought under the Ministry of Prison Reform.

The government had said that it was working on projects that could accompany the former cadres to work with the community. The government has been constantly monitoring the former cadres after they were released. With no livelihood facilities provided for them the government through the army has now thrown the gauntlet and has rounded up the former cadres, and demand them to help the activities of the army.
