The government has been continuously refusing the allegations which come from many quarters which allege that the army is intruding into the civil administration of the North.
The foundation laying ceremony for the auditorium building of the Kilinochchi Kanagapuram Maha Vidyalaya at the cost of 40 lakhs rupees and funded by the Nicod project was arranged for the 31st around 10 AM. The Zonal Education Director of the Education Department Amirthalingam and other officials were taking part in the foundation laying ceremony when three soldiers gatecrashed into the school premises and thoroughly inquired form the vice principal Sethupathy, as to why the army was not invited for the foundation laying ceremony, and who were the invitees who have come and under which project is the building being constructed and other details pertaining to the ceremony, according the GTN reporter.
The soldiers had also threatened the vice principal saying that any event taking place in the school in future should be notified to them and no event should take place without being informed to them and left in the place.
The incident has saddened school community to the extent that they are unable to organize even a school event properly
Meanwhile some soldiers, who go to school and public functions, take a CD containing the national anthem in Sinhala with them and insist that the CD be played during the flag hoisting. This had created a stir between the event organizers and the army in many places. The government announcement that the national anthem should be played in the language where most of people of the area speak is openly rebutted by the army in many places in Kilinochchi. This problem has led to the habit of hosting the flag before the event starts.
