Substandard diesel in the market:
The Ministry of Petroleum Industries yesterday decided to ask the Auditor General conduct to conduct an inquiry into all oil purchases by the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC) in the year ending July 31, 2012.
Minister Susil Premajayantha ordered ministry secretary R. H. S. Samaratunga to take necessary steps get the AG to conduct the inquiry.
The minister gave the order for an inquiry to be conducted into immediate purchases and maintenance of stocks from August 01, 2011 to July 31, 2012.
Ministry spokesman W. P. M. P. Roshan told The Island that the minister’s order followed the allegation that a stock of substandard diesel had caused hundreds of vehicles to stall.
