Jaffna Security Forces Commander Maj. Gen. Mahinda Hathurusinghe briefed a visiting UK parliamentary delegation on the post-war development and recovery process in the peninsula.
Jaffna Security Forces Commander Maj. Gen. Mahinda Hathurusinghe briefed a visiting UK parliamentary delegation on the post-war development and recovery process in the peninsula. The briefing on August 2, at Security Forces headquarters, Palaly was part of the overall GoSL efforts to counter LTTE propaganda.
During the briefing the Maj. Gen. explained the Army’s involvement in government augmented development projects in post-war Jaffna in addition to the Army-initiated welfare programmes to improve education, health and economy of the people in Jaffna.
The delegation paid special attention to the livelihood projects launched by the Army for reintegrated ex-LTTE combatants in the peninsula and they appreciated the major role played by the Army for the development and wellbeing of needy people in the peninsula.
The visiting parliamentary group comprised James Wharton, Mark Menzies, Andrew Stephenson, Alden Burley, Connor Burs, Mathew Offord, David Morris, Bob Blackman, Rev. Ian Paisley and Mrs Nicola Blackman.
